A NEW INVESTOR FOR SAAB?

These are extremely exciting times for Saab and as we move closer to securing new investment the media speculation is at fever pitch.
To set the record straight there has been no official announcement relating to any potential investors but rest assured our negotiations are on track and we expect to have a new ownership structure finalized in the early summer.

Until then enjoy the increased speculation in the knowledge that the next chapter in Saab Automobile's history is just around the corner. . .

I have always liked Saab cars. I almost bought one a couple of years ago. Unfortunately their cars are sold in North America through GM's Saturn dealerships. I was very put off by their poor facility and unprofessional sales and services, and I ended up buying something else. It is exciting to see Koenigsegg becoming the new owner of the Saab brand. I expect to see some very exciting vehicles bearing the Saab badge in the future. I only hope they will become available in North America.

Since 1988 I have owned three Saab vehicles -- ALL excellent cars.
Saab Of Charleston ( SC ), a Hendrick Dealership, recently abandoned their CUSTOMERS & exited the business -- leaving local Saab owners to fend for themselves. Not only was that an unethical and dishonorable thing to do, it was a very poor business decision -- since virtually ALL local Saab owners will pass along that information to Friends & Family, and probably anyone who will listen for two minutes, even complete strangers -- rest assured, I WILL !
I WILL make every effort to AVOID a Henderick Dealership ( regardless of "the make" of the car ) in the future and I will assure that anyone who will listen WILL learn of my opinion of Hendrick Dealerships and the OBVIOUS lack of Value they place on their FORMER CUSTOMERS.

Let me be among the first to congratulate SAAB's team and Koenigsegg.

    Hi,

I have a 2002 Saab 9-5 which has caused me lots of trouble - oil leaks and having to replace many electrical components - latest being the fuel pump assembly. I know it is a bit early but will SAAB only be a European brand or will it be coming back to North America. I still like my car but would a new SAAB be getting better parts than what Opel provides.

    Thanks,

    Don

As a Saab dealership employee, I am wildly enthusiastic about the prospect of Koenigsegg and their associated investors taking a share in Saab's future. The sooner you let the world know what is happening in this regard, the sooner we can get on with the business of selling and servicing one of the world's great cars - SAAB!!!

    Good Luck Koenigsegg from Australia.

Being a Saab family since the 1960's owning a Saab 96. It will be great to see the company being bought back by a Swedish company.

When Saab was bought by GM the family moved to Peugeot. GM didn't have the right touch for designing Saabs in our opinion. Can't wait to see what will come in the future.

I have been a Saab owner since 1988. This means half of my life! Starting with a 2nd hand 1980 900GL 3 door and now owning a 2000 9-3S and a brand new 2009 9-3 Sport Combi. Totally I have owned 7 Saabs.
I'm truely happy to experience the news - was in fact a bit worried, but now the light at the end of the tunnel seems visible.
I hope that Saab will return to innovation and a "form-fit" design language that characterised the old "true Saabs" so that a Saab is not only a car, but a very special car, that smells right, sounds rigt and feels right.
I hope that Saab will be more offensive in style. More offensive in marketing, so that people are not in doubt thar Saab was the pioneer.
Example: the name 9-3 "1,8t" is defensive in the way that Audi several years before introduced this 1,8t name and it seems that Saab simply couldnt find a name of its own.....

    I hope:
    - Saabs will not be too expensive in the future.
    - Saabs will be "Nordic cars"
    - We will see more "green cars" from saab
    - We will see a smaller car from Saab
    - Saabs again will have huge luggage compartments
    - The designers and engineers who in the 60ties and 70ties designet, developed and improved the classic 99/900 get a medal of honour for being extreemly innovative and vissionary.

    Good Luck to Saab

Hopefully this will cure the dreaded SAAB (GM) bugaboo - horrible depreciation (or was it originall overpriced). That said, my beloved purchased used CPO 2001 Viggen coupe is the only SAAB that can rightly clain to be born from jets. Now I am truely spoiled by fierce acceleration with 32MPG on the highway and a hatch with massive storage. :) Time to make fun cars again!!!

Love my '08 SAAB 9-3. 2.0L turbo and 6-speed. SAAB's engineering talent contributed much to General Motors and appears there still may be some type of ongoing relationship with Government Motors in the near term. Hopefully, this will allow SAAB to continue to sell products in North America. It will be exciting to see SAAB automobiles evolve with fresh ideas and input from Koenigsegg. SAAB's greatest challenge will be to get beyond being a niche brand in North America and an aggressive marketing campaign will be needed to do so. At this juncture, survival is probably their most immediate goal. I believe that without the constraints of corporate politics SAAB is going to become a new world class marque far beyond anyone's expectations. Market share may not be an immediate goal but, demand for their products will increase as they develop automobiles by thinking outside of the box. I wish them well and look forward buying a new generation SAAB.

With 24 years of SAAB ownership experience behind me, perhaps the future of SAAB is to make the safest, best performing, alternative fuel cars in the world...that is one of the many things that GM failed to do with a potential gold mine of a product if it just had had the insight to do the right thing...but alas like everything else GM, it was confused and misguided...how about now!!!???

It'll be interesting to see how Koenigsegg views the Aero X...look at their automobile portfolio and you can see that an Aero X is quite do-able for a niche manufacturer. Naturally, that's not where the money is long term but....it does raise some interesting possibilities for production. I just hope Saab doesn't become so 'high-end" that we can no longer afford them. GM did discount heavily so deals were plentiful. Time will tell.

Yeah! A new partnership for Saab with a SWEDISH company - Koenigsegg!! I love my 9.3 and have been waiting for a return to a true Saab automobile without the lesser quality GM parts/influence.
Congratulations and best wishes on this business venture. Long live Saab!

I have a SAAB 9-3 Aero TTiD estate and it is without doubt one of the best car's I have ever had. I feel that any break from the GM brand will be a good thing as GM has reduced the engineering quality of the brand.
I hope that the future is bright for SAAB and they get back to doing what they do best.
