Speculation surrounds unofficial 9-5 images

As the launch of the new Saab 9-5 draws closer, journalists and Saab enthusiasts across the globe continue to speculate on what the new cars will look like.
This speculation intensified after an independent blog – saabsunited.com – posted two computer generated images which it claimed showed the new 9-5 in all its glory. Since they were posted, these images have exploded across the internet, generating a great deal of global media attention and receiving an extremely positive response from excited Saab fans.

We have to admit the pictures are impressive. Further we are delighted to see how eager people are to catch an early glimpse of the car. This said, Saab can assure you that the real all new 9-5 is even more stylish and dynamic than these images indicate. We are confident that, once officially revealed, Saab fans will not be disappointed.

It is encouraging to see Saab giving such a positive response in regards to Saab enthusiasts' thoughts on the CGI's. The new 9-5 is a highly anticipated vehicle that will usher in a new era for a new, innovative Saab.

The question is, does SAAB have enough time to turn this into a hatchback to stop companies like Audi stealing even more of SAAB's Heritage with the A5 Sportback?

And it is not just Audi but also BMW with 5-series (and soon 3-series as well) 5-door Gran Tourismo or even Skoda Superb with the clever hatch. I always found SAAB hatch backs very useful, e.g. 9000 or previous generation 9-3.

The SportWagon image is awesome. The lease on our 2007 SportWagon (AERO) expires October 2009. Can we extend the lease until the 2010 reaches the showrooms?

    Hello,

It doesn't matter whether it is a hatch, Sedan or a Combi, what matters is it is a Saab design, uniqueness, so nobody should do the same, and it is standing out of the crowd of other cars. Keep it off other cars competition, it should not be compared to another car, by preserving it own personality. keep its stance, it is like no other.

I love it because it is unique, I stand out of the crowds, so my car must do the same.

I hope this blog help us improve our Saab, by posting our complaints and liking.

I don't mind if it is a hatch or a sedan, as long as it keeps its heart essence. It should be Saab only, please don't mix car parts and afterward call it a Saab, at least make all visible parts made by Saab.

Thank u, my dream came true of buying one of your cars, I never wanted a Corvette or a Lamborghini,
    I wanted this Car...

    *Saab*

    -I love it-

    God
Blessings and guidance of your path

    Thank you

I am waiting to see what the future of SAAB will be. I own a 2009 9-3 and I am waiting for the 9-4X to buy it. I will consider changing the 9-3 with the new 9-5 if is soooooo nice as the pictures shows.
I am disapointed when I heard that future 9-3 will go one segment down and I hope that this is not true.
    I think SAAB should have the 9-3 against 3-series & C-class , 9-4X against the bulls**t X3 and X5 , 9-5 against 5 series & E-class but also built a new 9-1 against Audi A3 & Volvo C30 (I don't put it against 1-series because that car is just ''I love the bmw badge'' car).
I hope the comments of the funs are readen by SAAB management.

I saw the CGI's as well...but to be honest the image above and the other veiled images of the real 2010 Saab 9-5 series seem far more exciting based on the what I can see through the sheer covers and the general proportions and design lines. As a two car Saab family I can't wait to see these two new models!

I just bought a new 2008 Saab 9.3 2.0T. I absolutely love the car. It handles nicely, very fast, hugs the road, and gets very decent gas mileage. I hope Saab continues to manufacture a 4 door sedan similar to the 9.3. A 9.5 sedan is just too much car for me. perhaps, Saab could install a auto-stop feature when the car comes to a stop...saving gas. Also, hybrid sedan...E85 model with all the above in the USA. Go Saab!!!! We love you!!

Of course we want to see the new 9-5, just can't wait. But I must say that the 9-X Air(Convertible) must be one of the coolest cars I have ever seen. Please build this one exactly as i looks except the interior that is probably not ready for production (and people not ready either I guess). Search google for 9-x Air and be amazed.

Hopefully it is also a new car in terms of fuel consumption and pollution and not only based on biopower as this is in many markets not an accepted enviromental solution. In the Netherlands Saab still has the wrong energy labels!
Look forward to the new car!

This Saab is going to rock!...it needs to be a sedan and then a hatch or wagon back option, but many of you need to understand that theSedan outsells the wagon/hatch 10 to 1 and for the company to prosper it needs to offer both....those of you with a current lease you need to contact your lease company (GMAC / SFSC) and see how long they will extend your term....we are all excited to see what this new Saab will do!

Nous en sommes à notre troisième SAAB. Nous en sommes toujours aussi satisfaits pour son confort, sa personalité et son allure unique. Juste une petite chose, pourrions-nous avoir le choix d'un hayon. Encore braba à SAAB.

I own and drive a Black 990 SAAB 900 S built several months before GM took over SAAB operations - or so I believe. Body is in mint condition and nothing other than routine maintenance (clutch, oil leaks after 150K miles, etc). original paint is beginning to show age but again, so am I. I'm not keeping it becasue I don't want a new car - but because I'm proud to drive this one - and I like the compliments from people when they see it and ask me "what type of car is it?" This might show how far GM led SAAB away from it's spirit of making beautiful cars that work like real performance machines. It must be true that an independent SAAB built the greatest cars; because the car works well, gets great mileage and is a joy to drive despite it's not being marketed as the "sport Turbo" of it's class. It has plenty of extra horsepower despite its 19 years. News that SAAB will have a new jump start is good news - we are all ready again for unique and classic quality driving that made SAAB the linchpin vehicle in New England and California in the 1970's and 1980's. But the GM stain must be washed out of the company as quickly as possible.
Waiting for the 2011 or 2012 myself - once all of the GM cost saving ideas and gadgets (the SAAB knobs on the interior console of the 2000+ models are the same ones in the GM minivans, or so it looks)... are purged.

Some might find this silly, but after owning 5 Saab's over the past 22 years, the likelihood of my next car being a Saab may actually come down to CUP HOLDERS.

Why can't Saab get it right with cup holders?

Just saw the images on the web - look promising. As a 3 time owner of SAABs and 1 time owner of Volvo - you know where my loyalties are. I currently have a 2009 9-3 and love it almost too much. My previous were a 2004 9-3 and a 2000 9-5 wagon - which I must say was our family darling. Next up - either the new 9-5 or a 9-3 combi. I hope there is a 9-5 wagon in the future - that would most certainly end up in my garage.

Time will tell. They will hear us concerning the Hatch, at least the new 9-3 will have a hatch/coupe-version again I think. I'm sorry that the new 9-5 won't appear parallel as SportCombi in April 2010. Waiting for 2011 is far too long for some customers looking for more space. In the meantime we ordered a living legend: the actual 9-5 SportCombi TID HP in Arctic White, rolling on 18'' Inca-Wheels... it's still a wonderful car. We need patience...

Saab must bring back the hatch. It was such a versitale car!!! I have owned 2- 9000 and had 283k on my last one. I now have 2005 9-5 wagon ( gets in the 30+mpg!!! love that) but would have got another hatchback if you still made one. I hate the dash on the newer SAAB big funky looking knobs....not classie looks like my daughters camry or very GMeeee.....

The 1993 Saab 900 Turbo 3-door. Place it in room with those in charge of designing Saab's future. No additional inspiration needed.
